Abstract

This research investigates the multifaceted impact of generative AI tools on the early stages of architectural design. It examines how these AI systems influence designers' performance, their creative self-efficacy, and the cognitive load experienced during conceptualization. Findings highlight opportunities for enhanced design exploration and efficiency, alongside challenges related to cognitive overload and the shifting role of human creativity in AI-augmented design workflows.
